A STORY OF RESCUE

Ellie found the perfect home!

Bev really wanted a dog; her husband, Jon, was pretty much against the idea. Somehow Bev prevailed and Jon finally agreed. After a call to As Good As Gold Golden Retriever Rescue of Northern Illinois and some thorough screening to ensure the right placement, six-year old Golden, Ellie, walked into their lives and stole their hearts!

In Ellie, Bev got the canine companion she’d been yearning for. And Jon, a man of few words who had battled depression for years, was a changed man. He looked forward to feeding Ellie and taking her for long walks. Bev started taking Ellie to her physical therapy sessions where Ellie, a natural retriever, learned to help Bev out with her physical challenges.

Ellie, herself a former victim of abuse, has brought sunshine into their lives along with some very tangible results. Friends have noticed a marked change in Jon, seeing him as a happier, more outgoing person. Bev has experienced a noticeable improvement in her health, and, on her doctor’s advice, has completely eliminated one of her blood pressure medications.

Protector, therapist, and bearer of unconditional love, Ellie has made a permanent imprint on Bev and Jon’s lives! And she keeps on giving!
